Drum Circle in the Park

The Bend Drum Circle has switched to its summer hours and location.

The drum circle meets about 5:30pm every Wednesday at Drake Park in Bend, Oregon near the Farmer's Market during the summer months. All are welcome, beginners included. We often have spare chairs and drums for guests to use. We play mostly African rhythms and drums. See you there! [map]

Aliou's Dance Class Rescheduled

Hello Drummers and Dancers,

Aliou has changed his West African dance class from Wednesdays at 3 to Saturdays at 4pm, still at the Gotta Dance Studio.

If you haven't tried a dance class with Aliou, come on by. You'll be amazed! We are lucky to have this artist here in Bend. High energy, all levels.

The dance class is $15 and if you want to drum for the dance class, you're welcome. It is considered a drum lesson so it's $15 to drum. Or, come by Ali's regular drum class Friday nights at 7 (also at Gotta Dance).

See you there~

AphrodesiA in Bend

AphrodesiA is a "San Francisco-based 11-piece ensemble [that] has won audiences over with an eclectic, unique sound- a blend of rich, female lead vocals and slamming horn-laden polyrhythmic funk that Global Rhythm Magazine called a Pan-African mash-up."

AphrodesiA will be performing at the 541 Lounge this Friday, November 30 at 9pm. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Check out their music on the AphrodesiA web site and the AphrodesiA MySpace page.

AphrodesiA was originally slated to perform at The Summit Saloon and Stage, but the opening of The Summit has been postponed.
